Information for Guests
Graduating students proceed to the Norm Fenn Gym located in the Ice House.
Kindly put your cell phone on silent mode during the ceremony.
As Convocation is a live streamed event, signs, noisemakers, or anything that may obstruct the audio-visual element of the ceremony is not permitted.
We ask that you enjoy your coffee or food items outside the Fieldhouse. Water is permitted in the facility. Please place any garbage in bins upon leaving.
There are water stations in the Fieldhouse located to the far right and far left of the room.
For your safety, please do not stand on chairs. Kindly do not obstruct anyone’s view while taking pictures.
There is an area at the back of the Fieldhouse designed for children and families with strollers.
On the ground level there are restrooms in the Fieldhouse foyer, men’s changeroom and across from Tim Hortons. Additional restrooms are available on the second level. Our staff can direct you.
There is a reception in the Ravens’ Nest after each ceremony. The room is alphabetically marked. Please meet your graduate at the letter of their last name.
Several locations are available to take photos after the ceremony, including staged areas inside and outside the reception space.

Need a wheelchair temporarily? Speak to one of our gowned staff for assistance. Please return them promptly afterwards so that other guests may use them.
Each ceremony is streamed live online and will be live-captioned on our video monitors.
Students are being photographed backstage in a posed setting. Photographic proofs will be sent to the graduate’s Carleton email address approximately 3-5 business days later.
Convocation is being video recorded. You will be able to view a copy of each ceremony approximately 2-3 business days later on our ceremony video archive page.
Photographs and video will be taken during Convocation. If you DO NOT want your picture, video or audio recording used, please exit the Fieldhouse. For questions about privacy, please see Carleton’s Privacy Office website.
We ask that all gowns and hoods be returned after the reception and before leaving the campus. Gown drop-off kiosks are located at the entrances to the reception.
Framing services are available at the Bookstore kiosk, located just outside the Ravens’ Nest.
There is an ATM located near Tim Hortons.
If you lost a personal item, it will be dropped off at the Athletics Welcome Desk in Alumni Hall. If you are inquiring about a lost item after Convocation, please contact the Registrar’s Office.

In the event of an evacuation, please proceed to the closest exit. Emergency personnel are available to assist you.
